Biography of Dr. Peter Piasecki After successfully completing his degree course in mechanical engineering at Bochum Polytechnic, Peter Piasecki read history and art history at the Ruhr University in Bochum. He was awarded a Ph.D. for his thesis on invention, innovation and diffusion in the German salt industry between 1550 and 1650, written under the tutorship of Prof. Dr. Wolfhard Weber. At present, Peter Piasecki is a reader at State Vocational Training Academy of North Rhine-Westphalia. He is a member of the board of the "Commission Internationale d'Histoire de Sel", co-editor of the "Journal of Salt-History", a permanent member of the "CIHS Salz-Bibliographie" and author of more then 70 publications, in particular on research into technical and economic aspects of the history of salt-winning.
